As two people decide to “tie the knot”, they need to realize not everything will be sunshine and flowers. The two people bring different personalities and uniqueness to the relationship. You must continue to work through your problems when you have difficulties in your marriage. The dedication that you show your partner by working through challenges will help you learn from the experience, and will strengthen your relationship.
Some couples stop talking altogether and they begin to do things that drive wedges between them and their marriage. Because of this, we are going to briefly introduce the three top items that every couple must implement in order to save their marriage. When you see your marriage is failing, the first thing you must do to save it is restore your commitment of working together. The second thing you must do to save your marriage is open the lines of commuication once again. Finally, to save your marriage, seeing counseling may help you.
The First C: Commitment -
To save your marriage, it’s important that both you and your spouse want to fix your marriage and truely commit to each other that your going to try and work at it. In order to rekindle and recapture what you once had, you must commit. A commitment is not what most think it is. It is not a attempt at something, and it is not a feeling. When you make a commitment, you are saying that you will try the hardest you can to save your marriage. When you make your commitment, your making a decision to make it work with your partner no matter what happens.
The Second C: Communication -
You didn’t listen before, so here it is again. Another thing that’s crucial to saving your marriage is to open the lines of communication. You must open these lines of communication, because so many marriages don’t make it due to the lack of communication between the individuals. Communication is expressing one’s feelings in a place that you and your partner feel safe and you feel you won’t be judged. Communication goes two ways, and in order to make it work both people must participate. Also, communication is hearing what your partner has to say.
The Final C: Counseling
The last thing to save your marriage is to get a counselor to help you work through issues with your partner. To truely help your relationship the counselor will act as a middle man to help you work your way through. They will help you work through the challenges that you and your partner are facing. Your counselor would have experience, so that they would not take sides. The counselor you meet with can help you see what your partner sees, and understand their point of view. You could need their help you find your perspective of the relationship, and they could do that for you. The steps could save your marriage.
